So Blue

I've been a little down lately because 2 of my really close friends are moving. I hate it, it's just not fair. Do I sound like my 3 year old? Sorry, I guess I'm just having one of those "poor me's" days, as Marianne would say.
My good friend Sissy just moved to Chicago. She is the kind of girl friend everyone needs in their life. She has been such a blessing in mine. She got me through my divorce, packing boxes and letting me cry until I didn't think I could stop. Her potty mouth makes mine look tame. We love the same books and shows, and have the same sense of humor. She lets me complain about family problems and never tries to tell me what I "should" do. I'm going to miss her. I know I act like she's dying, but moving to Chicago is just too far away.
My other good friend Carolyn is moving as well. Carolyn I met when I moved into this ward. She picked me up when I thought my world was over. She saw a young mother with a little baby, and took us in. She has been the best example to me. She's always lending a hand when needed but never gets taken advantage of, because she knows her limits. I love her! As Bella said yesterday, "Mom I just love Carolyn. She's my favorite uncle. Mom, is she my uncle?". She's only moving to Farmington, (actually up the street from Soni) but it just won't be the same.
I'm so lucky to have these two as friends.

It's that time again

Today was Ute fest. For all of you who could care less about Utah sports, I'll fill you in. It's a fun day filled with games, prizes, and a chance to meet athletes from every sport. Bella and Seth have been planning this event for the past few weeks. Claire and I got to tag along too. That was so nice of them to let us come. But then this morning Seth comes in from outside and says "Amy, I think I need stitches." Yes, Seth cut his hand open while trying to fix Bella's bike. What a devoted dad. Our time was set back a little, but once he was all stitched up he was ready to go. Now that's a true fan! Bella loved meeting the gymnasts and playing all the fun games they had. By far the best part was when we were interviewed for Fox 13. Actually, Claire and I were cut out, I guess we're not as interesting as the true fan in our family. Here's a clip. Don't blink or you might miss it. http://www.myfoxutah.com/myfox/pages/Sports/Detail?contentId=7274526&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=6.2.1

Finally The Zoo!!

I promised Bella that we would go to the zoo once this summer and we finally made it. School starts next week so technically we made it once this summer.
My dad came with us and that was so much fan. We rode the train, saw all the animals, ran into my friend Leslie and her kids and rode on the merry-go-round. It was perfect day, only in the mid 80's.
Who knows, maybe next year I can try for twice in one summer.

Are You Kidding Me #9

I just read in the paper that there is a place in California that is now serving chocolate covered bacon. Are you kidding me? No it's no joke. It sounds so horrible to me. I'm a fan of bacon and an even bigger fan of chocolate, but together? I'm really curious to talk to someone who has actually tried it.
Well, I just had to post this since I could never have imagined such a thing.

No longer my mini me

Claire used to look like a little version of Bella, who is a little version of me. That is no longer the case. I think Seth's brother Joel said it best. "She's a tan Seth". So true, so true!

Tea Party at the Brown's

Yesterday morning Bella and I decided to have a tea party. We found an old box and covered it with pink paper. Then decorated it with markers and stickers. After that Bella set the table and put some of her stuffed animals out and played.
This may have been one of the best ideas I've ever had. It took all of 30 minutes to put together, it was free and she hasn't stopped playing with it since. I feel like a genius. Now if I could just come up with more great ideas.

I Learn Something New Every Day!

Last week when Seth was out of town for the week I caught a biography of Led Zeppelin on TV. We have CD's around the house and I wouldn't turn it off if I heard it, that's about as far as I go for being a fan. So when I saw the biography I thought I would watch. I love learning new things about bands. Well, learn new things I did. The first thing I learned, which I find pretty funny is that Page and Plant "were family men. they loved spending time with their wives and children, who were at home." Um what? Who writes this stuff? Did they like spending time with their wives and kids during the groupies? Or was it when they were doing large amounts of drugs and drinking and tearing apart hotel rooms? The second thing I learned which did scare me was all the talk about devil worshiping. It freaked me out and then I had a hard time sleeping. When I told Seth, he thought it was funny that I didn't about it. Apparently any Zepplin fan would know about that. I guess you do learn something new every day.

Did you hear?

Scrubs will be on for another season, but on ABC. A little strange to be switching networks, but whatever. Hopefully they'll clear up all the things they didn't before. Did anyone see the last episode? I stopped watching it, because it got so weird and I was bugged that was supposed to be the last one. I'll cross my fingers season 8 is good.

1 for me, 3 for Phelps

Ok, so I shouldn't really compare my little win to Michael Phelps winning the gold. If you consider the fact that I haven't trained my whole life and all I did was call a radio station. But I never win anything and the other day I actually won 4 tickets to Sea World. I'm pretty excited about it. The only problem is I didn't win the hotel or air fare we need to make the trip possible. Oh well, the tickets are good for a year. We'll See what happens. But way to go USA!! Those swimmers are freaking amazing. They look like fish. I'm totally amazed by these athletes and proud to be an American.

When Dad's Away, The Girls Will Play

Seth has been gone this past week to scout camp. Yes, that's right, one week of adolescent boys. Judging from the stories he's told me, I think it's pay back for when he was a scout. While he's been gone the girls and I have tried to stay busy. Since last night was the last night we had to spend alone I told Bella we could have a girls party, with no boys allowed. She was so excited that when she woke up from her afternoon nap on Friday she asked if it was time to sleep in my bed. I reminded her that she just woke up, but she didn't care.
We had a fun time watching a marathon of Jon & Kate plus 8, had pizza and root beer for dinner, and finally pop corn, a movie and plying princesses in my bed. She loved it! Claire seemed to have fun to. Although she was asleep by 7:30pm.
I love being a mom! Thanks girls for making my life that much better! I love you!

Kid Tag

OK so I'm not really into the tag thing, but I read this on Lori and Jessica's blog and thought it was so cute that I had to do it.
1. What does mom always say to you?
"I love you"
2. What makes mom happy?
"When I say big kid words"
3. What makes mom sad?
"When I cry"
4. How does mom make you laugh?
"You tickle me"
5. How old is mom?
"I don't know. How old are you? 3?"
6. How tall is mom?
"Really tall"
7. What does mom like to do?
"Tickle me"
8. What is mom's favorite TV show?
"High School Musical no wait I mean Gilmore Girls"
9. What is mom's favorite food?
"Cheesy eggs"
10. How do you know mom loves you?
"You tickle me"

If you thought this was cute, consider yourself tagged and do it with all of your kids!

13 Little Monkeys & A New Bike

Today was such a fun day. A few of my high school friends were in town (Lindsey from New Jersey and Marissa from Tennessee) so we had a little lunch get together. There were 7 adults and 13 kids at my house! 10 girls and 3 boys. Wow!! I wish I had taken pictures of the girls in their dress up clothes. It was so cute!!
After all the fun I assumed Bella would be ready for her usual 2 hour nap. I was wrong. So we decided to have a few of our friends from the neighborhood over to ride bikes. This was the first time Bella has been able to ride her "new" bike. I say "new" because I found it at a garage sale for $7. I did buy a new princess horn, basket and name plate. So technically I'm up to $22 spent on this bike. I keep telling Seth this is still nothing compared to what a new bike would cost. (He seems to think he can go to Target and get one for under $20). Would someone please tell him that's not possible?
It was a great day. I love being able to psend time with my high school friends. It reminds me of the good old days and makes me feel young. Well sort of.

Representin' '98

Last night was our 10 year high school reunion. I have to say, it really was fun. Watching the senior video and the other video about what has happened since was really fun. I wasn't sure what it would be like, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The following are some things I learned:
  • I live down the street from BJ
  • Everyone and I mean everyone has a blog now days
  • Christy Hepworth has 9 children (that's no joke)
  • Kristen Bolton married Jamie Ludwig
  • Jon Erickson and Heidi Lavulo have 2 children together
  • Andrew Gilman wrote a screen play
  • Gas was $1.10 in 1998
  • Andrew and BJ have not changed at all when they get together (and they are so funny)
  • Chris Lifworth..(ok, I don't know. This was a bummer to me because I really wanted to talk to him and he left before I could chat. So any of you 950 E girls who has an update, I would really appreciate it)

I was a horrible picture taker (I have a feeling Andria will have a million good ones on her blog) but it's probably because I was having so much fun talking with people I haven't seen in years. A lot of work went into planning and I thought it was great. Thanks Mariss for driving with me(it was so much fun) and trading our raffle tickets. I am now the proud owner of an over night stay at the Marriott and she has 4 passes to golf at Eagle Wood. Now the question is will I go back in another 10 years? Hmm.....
